About ColaSnob
Find and rate Diet Coke near you.
What this is
ColaSnob is a free, community-built map of U.S. places that have Diet Coke, with 1–5 quality ratings. There are no accounts — anyone can report what they find, and a map of where the good fountain Diet Coke lives slowly takes shape.
How the availability engine works
Individual people don't flip a location's status — an automated engine does, and it's deliberately conservative. In plain English:
- Each report is weighted by the contributor's track record — people whose past reports held up count for more — and by recency, so a fresh report outweighs a stale one.
- A location only changes status when several independent people agree (distinct contributors, not the same person reporting twice). One outlier can't move it.
- Ratings use a Bayesian average, so a single 5-star rating doesn't rocket a brand-new spot to the top of the list.
- Admins can correct anything — fix a typo, merge duplicates, or override a status — and every admin action is recorded.
We show our work because transparency is what makes crowdsourced data trustworthy.
Climb the ranks: Poser → Snob → Connoisseur
Every accepted contribution earns you a playful, hard-won title — and a little more sway over the map. Here's the ladder:
- PoserEveryone starts here
No shame, no gatekeeping — your very first report already helps the map. Reports count at 1×.
- Snob5 accepted contributions
A discerning palate. Your reports and ratings now carry 1.5× weight.
- Connoisseur20 accepted contributions (and earned trust)
Your vote counts 2×, and the headline perk: your reports go live instantly — no second confirmation needed.
Sommelier is the honorary crown for the current #1 contributor on the leaderboard — a live title, not a fourth tier. It changes hands the moment someone out-contributes you.
Why sign in?
Accounts are optional — you can rate, report, and explore the whole map anonymously, forever. But signing in (a magic link, no password) gets you:
- Earn your tier— anonymous contributions don't count toward climbing the ranks.
- Track your contribution history in one place.
- Build a Top 10 and a public profile.
- Watch spots for changes and redemption.
- Make your vote count for more — signed-in ratings outweigh anonymous ones on the map (an anonymous rating counts just 0.3×).
Only acceptedcontributions count toward your rank, so tiers are earned — they can't be gamed.
